Hilton Head Island resident Chris Epperson is playing in his first Heritage and his first PGA Tour event. He shares his experience with a daily diary, as told to reporter Stephen Fastenau.
I slept in and picked my caddie up at his house in Sea Pines. We went and got some lunch at player dining and sat there for a good while.
I did some putting for a little bit, hit some balls and chipped for a little bit. We just kind of took it easy and conserved my energy, really. Zach Johnson, Ben Crane and Webb Simpson invited me to go to the PGA Tour Bible study tonight, so I'm going to go to that.
Zach spent a lot of time with me yesterday talking about (the tournament). He basically said to enjoy it, kind of slow down and don't take it too seriously, but just play your game. Slow down and enjoy it, was the big thing. Take advantage of the opportunity.
I have to transfer a bunch of notes into my yardage book tonight. It will take me a little while to get all my notes in the book. They gave me a new one that's a little better than the original one I had. So I'll just kind of look over that and get a good night's sleep, I guess. Just kind of do my normal routine for a normal tournament.
I'll have a little bit of nerves on the first tee tomorrow, then I'll be fine. I'll just enjoy it.
