TCL to host financial aid workshop

The Technical College of the Lowcountry will offer a college financial-aid workshop from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the MacLean Hall Student Center on the Beaufort campus, 921 Ribaut Road. The free event is open to the public.

The workshop is designed to teach college-bound students and their families how to apply for financial aid at any college or university. Help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid will be available.

Participants should bring the parents' 2010 state and federal tax returns, and the student's 2010 state and federal tax returns, Social Security number and driver's license. Students also should bring verification of any untaxed income, and eligible non-citizens should bring their alien registration numbers.

Coastal Carolina to hold open house

Coastal Carolina Hospital in Hardeeville will hold an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. March 10.

Guided tours, hors d'oeuvres and free gifts will be available. Open-house attendees can meet hospital board and community leaders, hospital staff and physicians. Displays about primary care, patient financial services, hospital volunteers, the hospital's Sun City Advisory Board, and the Blood Alliance, which provides blood products for the hospital, also will be available, according to a hospital news release.

"We're inviting people in our community to come get the inside scoop on Coastal Carolina Hospital," said Bill Masterton, the hospital's CEO. "Our hospital has grown a lot over the last year. There are new services, and there are new physicians on staff."

The event is free and open to the public.

Honor Flight seeks donors, passengers

Honor Flight Savannah, a nonprofit organization that sends World War II veterans to Washington to visit the new World War II Memorial, is seeking donors and passengers.

Honor Flight Savannah pays all expenses for the veterans through community donations, according to a news release.
