A Bluffton man has been charged with misdemeanor fraud and financial transaction card theft after he used a stolen credit card in a Bluffton store Thursday, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release.
A store video camera recorded the transaction, but the man's girlfriend lied to police about his identity, according to the release. She was charged with giving false information to police -- a misdemeanor. Both suspects were taken to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
The investigation began after a vehicle was broken into and a credit card stolen Feb. 5 at The Farm community in greater Bluffton. Anyone with information about the vehicle break-in is asked to call the Bluffton Police Department tip line at 843-706-4560.
