A 48-year-old Hilton Head Island man was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and battery Tuesday after he threw a drink in a Beach Break Grill employee's face and tackled her, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office report.
The bartender, treated by paramedics for cuts to her face and arm, told deputies three men entered the bar at 24 Palmetto Bay Road at about 11 p.m. and ordered drinks. One of them began yelling anti-Semitic slurs at patrons, according to the report.
When she told him to leave and called 911, he threw a drink in her face, tackled her and began hitting her. As they fell to the ground, a table that had liquor bottles on it broke, and a bottle fell on the back of the attacker's head, the report said.
Patrons pulled the man off her, and he ran to his car and drove off, the report said.

A deputy stopped a truck he saw leave the bar's parking lot. The driver, bleeding from his face and head, said he was jumped and struck in the head with bottles by several people in the bar after a dispute over immigration issues, the report said.
He was taken to Hilton Head Hospital for treatment and later to the Beaufort County Detention Center.
