Police looking for man accused of shooting ex-girlfriend

Port Royal police are looking for a 29-year-old man investigators say shot his ex-girlfriend in the face early Monday.

Stanley Moultrie of Poppy Hill Road in Burton was arguing with his ex-girlfriend at about 5 a.m. outside her apartment in Oak Hill Terrace off Ribaut Road, according to police spokesman Staff Sgt. Andre Massey.

The argument grew heated, and Moultrie pulled a handgun and fired two shots at close range, one of which struck his ex-girlfriend, Lashauna Sardinas, in the mouth, Massey said.

Moultrie ran, Sardinas was able to call 911. She was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Massey said.

A hospital spokeswoman declined to provide an update on Sardinas' condition Wednesday.

Investigators have yet to determine details of the argument, Massey said.

Moultrie was described by police as black, about 5-foot-9 and 170 pounds.

Massey said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
