No gun found on school bus

Bluffton police were called to H.E. McCracken Middle School at about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday after a report of a handgun on a school bus, but no weapons were found, according to a department news release.

A student told school officials Tuesday there was a handgun on a bus headed toward the school. The student reported overhearing students talking Monday about bringing a gun on the bus Tuesday, according to the release.

When the bus arrived at the school Tuesday, the 25 or so students aboard were escorted to a room so police could investigate. Officers searched the students and the bus but found no weapons, the report said.

No one was charged or injured.
