Palmetto Electric Cooperative's renovated Hilton Head Island office will reopen Tuesday on Mathews Drive. The temporary office in the former Hargray Administrative Building, 856 William Hilton Parkway, will be closed Friday to allow staff to make the move.
The new facility earned Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, president and CEO Tom Upshaw said in a news release.
Elements of the building use technology for efficient lighting, as well as heating, ventilation and air conditioning. It also collects and recycles rainwater for landscaping and other uses.
To make things easier for customers, the drive-through was moved from the front to the side, smoothing traffic flow and increasing safety, the release said.
