Workmen with Enterprise Rebar in Yemassee tie iron rebar together Thursday on one of the 16 bases of the new bridge being built beside the McTeer Bridge. Each base contains six pilings, made by pouring concrete into casings set into the river bottom, as seen in the background. The work area is enclosed in a cofferdam to keep out water in the Beaufort River.
On Friday, workers constructed the last of the 16 bases that will hold up the new bridge across the Beaufort River.
