The USDA's Risk Management Agency reminds farmers of the Jan. 31 sales closing date for crop insurance, which applies to fresh market tomatoes in Beaufort, Clarendon and Charleston counties.
The sales closing date is the last date to purchase a new policy or to change the level of coverage for an existing policy, according to a news release.
Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop-insurance agents.
Information: Contact a multi-peril crop insurance agent to learn additional program details. A list of agents is available at all USDA service centers or at www.rma.usda.gov/tools/agents.
