New parking rates and time limits in downtown Beaufort take effect Friday.
Spaces along Bay Street from Carteret to Newcastle streets now have three-hour time limits, up from two-hour limits. The rate remains $1 per hour.
Patrons will be allowed more time at cheaper rates at other locations beyond Bay Street, including:
Four-hour limit per parking space on Port Republic, Charles, West, Scott and Carteret streets, at 75 cents per hour.
No limit on parking for metered spaces on Craven Street between Scott and Newcastle streets; spots are 50 cents per hour.
No time limit on parking at the marina parking lot; spots are $1 per hour.
Two-hour limit per space for parking lots at the downtown library and the waterfront playground; spots are $1 per hour.
