The editors of "Northern Money, Southern Land: The Lowcountry Plantation Sketches of Chlotilde R. Martin," will hold a book signing and talk about the social and economic transformation of the Lowcountry coast at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Heritage Library, 852 William Hilton Parkway, Suite 2A, Hilton Head Island.
Stephen Hoffius and Robert B. Cuthbert will share Martin's observations from the early 1930s, her name-dropping chatter about the Lowcountry social register and reflections on the tensions between past and present in the old rice and cotton industries of South Carolina, according to a news release.
