New salon to offer 'a lot of color'

A new hair salon opening soon in Beaufort plans to offer a "retro meets '80s meets pinup" vibe and bold color offerings.

Owner Shonda Broadus said the new store, Pumps and Pinups Hair Salon and Color Studio, will open at Beaufort Town Center by Jan. 25.

"We'll be doing a lot of color," Broadus said. "It's our favorite thing to do, whether you want conservative, edgy or punk rock."

The new salon is located at 2015 Boundary St., Suite 102, next to Moe's Southwest Grill.

Broadus, 31, said she has been doing hair for eight years and previously worked at another local salon.

"I just felt like I was coasting, and I wanted to do something new," Broadus said. "We really want to have something where everyone can feel comfortable no matter what their style. ... Hopefully it will also bring in the younger generation who want something fresh and fun."

Joining Broadus at Pumps and Pinups is stylist Rachael Gray, who also worked at Broadus' former salon.

Pumps and Pinups will be open Mondays by appointment only; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
