Beaufort resident Harold Lewis Jr. won $40,000 playing Powerball, according to a news release Thursday from the S.C. Education Lottery.
Lewis matched four white ball numbers and the red Powerball drawn Dec. 18. The winning numbers for that drawing were 4, 11, 19, 33, and 43, with a Powerball of 14.
Lewis purchased PowerPlay for an additional $1, which multiplied his $10,000 winnings by four.
Lewis, a father of four, plans to pay off his car and take a family vacation with the winnings, the release said.
