Eight Ridgeland residents and one St. George resident were arrested Monday on drug charges after a two-month investigation by a regional task force, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.
In October, the Beaufort/Jasper Multi Agency Drug Task Force began investigating drug activity in the Orange Grove area of Mitchellville in Jasper County.
According to the release, several purchases of crack cocaine were made from Marvin Alexander Wright, 40, of Ridgeland, in the Mitchellville Road area. Investigators searched a residence Monday at Orange Grove Road, where they found several people in and around a shed, the release said.
In the shed, deputies found about 26 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, including crack pipes and items used to make crack cocaine.

Investigators found 120 grams of crack cocaine, two handguns, a rifle, marijuana, cocaine and other drug paraphernalia in a second shed.
Wright was charged with two counts of trafficking crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, nine counts of sale and distribution of crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana.
