The Hilton Head Island Town Council appointed Deborah Welch to the town's Design Review Board.
Welch replaces Martha Schymik, who was appointed in September but resigned shortly thereafter for health reasons. Welch's term expires June 30, 2013.
She has 30 years of experience as a builder and designer, according to her application. She served seven years on the Sea Pines Architectural Review Board and is involved in designing for RCH Construction.
The Design Review Board is composed of architects, landscape architects, graphic artists and other design professionals who review amendments to the town's land-use regulations, applications for sign permits and development.
