USCB to hold SC literary event

Three novelists and three literary critics will discuss the South Carolina novel at an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute event at the University of South Carolina Beaufort.

The critics -- Tara Powell and Robert Brinkmeyer, both from USC's Institute for Southern Studies, and Charles Israel of Columbia College -- will introduce novelists Pam Durban, Josephine Humphreys and George Singleton.

The novelists are expected to read from their novels and answer questions from the audience.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Friday on the Bluffton campus on U.S. 278 in Room 156 of the Hargray Building.
