A section of U.S. 21 on St. Helena Island will be closed Saturday for the Penn Center Heritage Days Celebration and Parade, according to a news release from Penn Center.

The S.C. Department of Transportation has granted permission to close Sea Island Parkway from St. Helena Elementary School to the intersection of Martin L. King Drive from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., the release said. Martin L. King Drive also will be closed to its intersection with Lands End Road and Club Bridge Road from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Residents may use a detour from Sea Island Parkway around Ball Park Road to reach parking on Penn Center's campus.

Beaufort County sheriff's deputies will enforce the road closings, the release said. Drivers should be cautious when passing residents along the parade route.
