Award winners of the EXPO 2011 Design Competition will be announced at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Verdier House, 801 Bay St., in Beaufort. The ceremony, reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.
EXPO 2011 -- The Future Form of Beaufort is a design competition sponsored by Beaufort County, the city of Beaufort, the Historic Beaufort Foundation and the Beaufort Three-Century Project. It challenged designers, architects and planners to explore Beaufort's historic form and interpret what a future form might look like on one of three designated sites in the historic district. The entries include architectural and site drawings and models.
Three $1,000 cash awards will be presented -- two determined by a jury and the third, a people's choice.
EXPO 2011 is on display from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and voting for the people's choice will continue through today.
