Bluffton man accused of hitting teen with bat

A Bluffton man was charged Thursday with hitting a 16-year-old boy with a baseball bat after the teen wouldn't get off his property, according to a Bluffton Police Department news release Friday.

Jason Omar Blackshear, 26, of Simmonsville Road shouted at the boy to get off his property, then hit the boy twice when he refused, once on the leg and once the head, the release said. The teen had minor injuries but was transported to Hilton Head Hospital as a precaution, the department said.

Blackshear was charged with second-degree assault and was being held at the Beaufort County jail on a $15,000 bond Friday afternoon.
