Bluffton man dies in motorcycle crash

A 41-year-old Bluffton man died Tuesday morning after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup at the intersection of U.S. 278 and Sawmill Creek Road in Bluffton, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Robert Fuller died at about 9:15 a.m. at Hilton Head Hospital, according to the Beaufort County Coroner's Office. He was not wearing a helmet, Deputy Coroner David Ott said.

Fuller was riding a Suzuki GSX-R6 west on Fording Island Road at about 8:30 a.m. when an eastbound Ford F-150 driven by Stadford Brown, 48, of Adams Run attempted to make a left hand turn onto Sawmill Creek Road, according to a Highway Patrol news release.

Brown apparently did not see the motorcyclist, who struck the right side of the truck, Ott said.

A passenger in the pickup also was transported to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
