Four people, including a 17-month-old child, were taken by ambulance to Beaufort Memorial Hospital after a crash Tuesday near Shell Point.
Burton firefighters and paramedics from Beaufort County EMS were called at about 12:55 p.m. to the wreck involving an Acura sedan and a Ford Expedition SUV near the intersection of Parris Island Gateway and Harding Street, said Dan Byrne, Burton Fire District spokesman.
The Acura driver and all three people in the SUV, including the child, were taken to the hospital, Byrne said. The extent of their injuries was unknown Tuesday.
Byrne said three lanes of Parris Island Gateway were closed for about 45 minutes.
