Four men were arrested Thursday night after a tracking dog searching for a burglary suspect led deputies to them.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office conducted two manhunts this week in the Burton/Beaufort area after residents reported break-ins.
Thursday's search began shortly after 2 p.m. when deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress at a home on Roseida Road. A woman told deputies that she had returned home to discover an unknown black man inside. The man ran away, possibly toward Shanklin Road.
Deputies and a K-9 unit searched the area, when about 5 p.m, the dogs led handlers to the back door of a Shanklin Road home, where coincidentally, Sheriff’s Office investigators were executing a search warrant in relation to previous area burglaries.
