A 51-year-old St. Helena Island woman was robbed in her home Saturday by two men wearing bandanas over their faces, one of whom had a gun, according to a news release Monday from the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.
The woman told deputies she was alone in her home on Seaside Drive at about 3 p.m. when she heard a knock at the door. The robbers demanded money, and when she said she didn't have any, the armed man forced his way into her home, the release said.
After briefly searching the home, both men fled, stealing a small amount of cash and jewelry, the release said. The victim was unharmed.
The robbers were described as two black males between 15 and 20 years old, about 5-foot-10 and 125 pounds. The armed suspect wore a yellow- and black-striped shirt and blue jeans. No further description was available of the other suspect.
