Decking the lights

City of Beaufort Public Works employee Al Amelly wraps bands of red and green lights around a streetlight Wednesday morning on Boundary Street in preparation for upcoming holiday season. Amelly and co-worker Frank Mueller spent the day decorating the streetlights up and down Boundary Street and were getting close to finishing the project, which includes most of the downtown area.

Christmas season is here, ready of not. Carols already are playing in some stores and on a local radio station. Beaufort crews got ready this week by wrapping streetlight poles like candy canes.
