A 30-year-old Burton man was arrested on seven drug charges Friday afternoon after he was pulled over, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office report.
Steven Chisholm faces charges of possession of cocaine, sale and distribution of cocaine, three separate counts of possession of a differently scheduled drugs, sale and distribution of heroin within a half-mile of a school and possession with intent to distribute cocaine within a half-mile of a school, according to online Beaufort County Detention Center records. He was jailed around 5:30 p.m. on Friday and released on bond around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
His combined bond for all seven charges was set at $85,000, according to online Beaufort County court records.
There were already six warrants out for Chisholm’s arrest when he was spotted and pulled over while driving in Burton on Friday afternoon, according to the report. He was taken out of his car at gunpoint by two officers and handcuffed on the ground. Deputies found a bag of cocaine on the ground beside him, ending in the possession of cocaine charge.
A pink powder that deputies believed could be fentanyl was found in a container inside the car, along with other unidentified powders and pills, according to the initial report. Those were all collected to be tested in the Sheriff’s Office lab. Deputies also found a cell phone, $1,505 in cash and a digital scale inside the car.
