A truck burned in a Lady’s Island driveway early Friday morning but was extinguished before causing major damage to the home.

Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District received a call about the Miller Drive West fire at 3:30 a.m., spokesman Scott Harris said. A man heard the alarm sounding on his Ford F250 and looked out a window to see the truck in flames.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze as it appeared to be spreading to the garage. The truck was destroyed, but the home suffered only minor damage to the siding.

The fire appears to have started in the engine, but the cause has not been determined, Harris said.
