Technology and creativity, education issues and community will be the focus of a four-day lecture series planned for Hilton Head Island this fall that includes speeches from the former head of marketing at Facebook, a former NFL quarterback and an education expert.
The Hilton Head Island Institute announced Monday its schedule of speakers and events for the fall debut of its four-day lecture and panel series to promote intellectual curiosity. The institute also plans several lectures in the weeks leading up to the main series.
The main event, the ImagiNATION series will be held at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn Plantation from Oct. 23 through Oct. 27. Each day or the series will focus on a specific topic, including turning individual success into a community impact, technology and creativity, and education.
Keynote speakers at the event will include former Facebook marketing head Randi Zuckerberg; author William Paul Young, who wrote the spiritual novel "The Shack"; motivational speaker and former quarterback Tom Flick; and education expert Tony Wagner.
Several lectures will lead up to the event, including the viewing of a 2001 interview with the late Charles Fraser, a lecture by documentary producer Robert Hutton and a two-part series on the history of Hilton Head Island and the Lowcountry's environment.
This is the institute's inaugural year. The not-for-profit organization aims to raise Hilton Head's profile as a hub for intellectual thought and new ideas.
