An area author will be the guest speaker at the first annual meeting of the Friends of Garden's Corner.
William McIntosh, III, who wrote "Indians' Revenge—Including a History of the Yemassee Indian War, 1715-1728" will speak and sign books at the meeting, which will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Hampton Inn, Point South, 139 Frampton Drive in Yemassee. The event is free to members of the Friends of Garden's Corner, and open to the public who can join the organization for $10.
The Friends of Garden's Corner was founded last year to promote and preserve the historical significance of Garden's Corner and beautify the area. The group hosts lactures by noted historians, writers and artists, as well as fundraisers for the beautification project. The group plans to partner with Beaufort County, the State of South Carolina and other groups to create "a fitting gateway to Beaufort at this historically significant crossroads in Northern Beaufort County."
Seating for the event is limited. Reservations: Woody Collins, 843-846-2322
