State lawmakers from Beaufort County are cozying up to political action committees.
Just-filed quarterly reports show Sen. Tom Davis and the county’s House members relying heavily on the groups, which give lawmakers money in an effort to influence legislation. Local representatives have accepted donations from health care PACs, restaurant PACs, golf PACS and more.
There's also other interesting tidbits in the reports. For example, Rep. Shannon Erickson paid her NRA dues out of campaign funds -- it's allowed under House ethics rules -- and Davis has made efforts to pay off a sizable loan with help from a PAC.
