A mother gator and 16 to 18 hatchlings were reportedly found in a tidal runoff area near the Comfort Inn in Bluffton. That wouldn't be out of the ordinary in April, but in January, "we're not supposed to have gators in our area," according to Joe Maffo of Critter Management. In fact, Maffo does not have tags to remove them yet from the S.C. Department of Natural Resources.
