Identity-theft victim issues countersuit against TD Bank

A West Virginia businessman whose identity was stolen by a loan officer and fraudulently used to obtain a $300,000 loan in 2006 is still suffering the consequences. Charles McCue was a victim in a wide-ranging bank fraud scheme perpetrated by Blair Witkowski, a loan officer at Carolina First Bank on Hilton Head Island, now TD Bank, and 17 others. Now the bank is suing McCue, demanding payment on the loan obtained in his name without his permission. McCue is fighting back with a countersuit; he says fraud ruined his credit history and that the bank has hidden the scam from other customers who were also hurt.
