State regulators: Hilton Head realtor accused of jewelry theft could lose license

A Hilton Head Island realtor suspected in a string of jewelry thefts from homes for sale on the island will appear before state regulators later this year to respond to a formal complaint recently filed against him. Darrell Finch will appear before the S.C. Real Estate Commission in Columbia on Dec. 12 to respond to the complaint, which we believe was filed by Maria Skrip, his former broker-in-charge.

Skrip came under scrutiny this summer for not knowing that Finch had been convicted of several felonies in Florida and was on probation in Georgia for buying Rolex watches using checks written from a closed bank account. The hearing could result in state regulators reprimanding, suspending, revoking, or otherwise restricting Finch's license, according to a notice sent to Finch and Skrip. Skrip has already said she will testify at the hearing to "ensure that (Finch's) license is revoked."
