Thank you for another successful Lt. Dan Week

The third Lt. Dan Week (LDW3) in Beaufort in September was a huge success.

Not only did it raise money to help severely wounded veterans from recent wars, it also provided an opportunity for many local organizations and individuals to work together for a worthwhile cause.

The team spirit demonstrated by more than 200 volunteers was exceptional. Many of the volunteers helped in years past and were already friends, while others came on board just this year and quickly became part of the LDW family. The camaraderie, generosity of spirit and commitment were undeniable and we are fortunate to have such fine citizens in our community.

We also appreciate the help of our local media. What an exceptional group of journalists in both print and broadcast news. They are terrific, and without them we would not be here.

It would be impractical to list all 200-plus individuals and the many, many organizations that volunteered for LDW3, but they know who they are and we want them to know how much they are appreciated for their exceptional goodwill and amazing, successful hard work.

Finally, we want to thank Beaufort for its welcome, compassion, and appreciation for our healing heroes and their caregivers. More than 3,000 of you stood and cheered when the veterans entered the Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park on Sept. 15. There was not a dry eye among the veterans as they sensed your Lowcountry love and gratitude.

Thanks, and may God bless you. See you at LDW4.
