Help sought identifying armed robber of Bluffton jewelry store

Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man who they say robbed a Bluffton jewelry store Tuesday.

Two female employees at Ultra Diamonds in Tanger Outlets #2 called police to the store just after 9 p.m., saying the store had just been robbed by an unknown white man.

Prior to the robbery, a man called the store to inquire about some jewelry and said he'd be there soon to look at the merchandise, according to a news release. About 20 minutes later, a man entered the store and referenced the earlier phone call. He looked at several pieces and then went to the register to pay for a necklace.

Instead of paying, the man, armed with a handgun, demanded the employees give him several pieces of jewelry and money from the cash register. He then forced the two women at gunpoint into a back room and fled the store, leaving the employees unhurt.

The release said the suspect is a white male, approximately 6-foot-4, 250 lbs wearing a yellow and gray Polo tank top. He reportedly had a distinct rash or severe acne on his chin, and was wearing large diamond rings on each hand.
