Man reports attempted armed robbery in Bluffton’s Shady Glen

A 38-year-old man told deputies that a stranger assaulted him and demanded money Tuesday morning at a Bluffton mobile home park.

Deputies went just after 8 a.m. to Shady Glen, where the victim told them he had been getting into his car parked in the driveway when a man ran up behind him and struck him in the head with a handgun, a Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office news release said.

The suspect demanded money and struck the man several more times when he said he didn’t have any.

The suspect then fled without taking anything from the man, who was treated for minor head injuries at the scene, the release said.

The armed robber is described as a tall black male, about 6-foot-3-inches, 250 pounds, wearing dark gray pants with a black T-shirt covering his head and face.
