Beaufort resident thankful for kindness of stranger

I was riding my bicycle south on S.C. 170 toward the Broad River bridge when I ran over broken glass. My rear tire went flat slowly, which allowed me to make a safe stop on the side of the road.

I was beginning to repair the flat when a gentleman stopped to ask whether I needed any help. I told him I had everything under control and thanked him for stopping to help.

A few minutes later, another gentleman stopped and asked if I needed any help. I told him everything was OK; the flat was repaired and I would soon be on my way. I thanked him for stopping.

On the way home I thought about the kindness of the two gentlemen who stopped to help a stranger and why I love living in the Lowcountry.

People are just nice here in South Carolina. All of us need to "pass it on."
