Historic Beaufort Foundation's Dinner & a Lecture on Monday at the Verdier House in Beaufort, will feature family members of Lowcountry hero Robert Smalls. The personal account -- to be presented by Smalls' great-granddaughter, Helen Boulware Moore, and great-great grandson Michael Boulware Moore -- will enhance visitors' experience of the traveling exhibit at the Verdier House, "The Life & Times of Congressman Robert Smalls." The exhibit will on display until Dec. 20.
The monthly lecture series features a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and programs from 6 to 7 p.m. A three-course dinner at Saltus River Grill is offered at $19 a person for attendees at the lecture. Admission to the lecture is $15 and $25 for members and member couples, respectively; and $20 and $30 for non-members and non-member couples, respectively. To make reservations, call 843-379-3331.
