Authorities search for man after stabbing

Authorities are searching for a Hilton Head Island man wanted for attempted murder after a stabbing at an island apartment complex Monday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

Oskar Jadeszko, 24, also is wanted on a charge of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the stabbing of Shaun Olechnowicz, 31, of Hilton Head, according to the release.

Olechnowicz was taken to Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center for treatment of a life-threatening neck injury. His condition was not revealed Wednesday, but he is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries, the release said.

Jadeszko is described as white, about 6 feet, 150 pounds, with short blond hair and blue eyes. He is considered homeless and could be armed and dangerous, the release said.

Olechnowicz told deputies he and Jadeszko argued at a bar. The argument continued when the two men returned to the apartment of a friend at The Dunes on Woodward Avenue at about 10:30 p.m. Jadeszko later pulled a knife, slashed Olechnowicz in the neck and ran, the release said.

Anyone who knows Jadeszko's whereabouts should call Investigator Sgt. L. Albertin at 843-255-3413 or the Beaufort County Dispatch Center at 843-524-2777.
