Two men were injured Saturday night after a man with a handgun fired into a crowd arguing in a parking lot at Bluffton House Apartments, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office reported.
Two men, ages 32 and 45, were taken to Hilton Head Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. One had a superficial gunshot wound to the head; the other was struck in the head with a handgun, a news release said.
The gunman was described as white, blond, 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-6, and 135 pounds, wearing a black-striped T-shirt and black shorts.
Deputies arrived after a woman called 911 to report gunshots near the 2400 building. She told deputies she heard a "commotion" outside her apartment and saw a group drinking in a nearby parking lot.
As the argument continued, a man ran toward the crowd, pulled out a handgun and fired. He began fighting with other men in the group, the release said.
Deputies found pools of blood in the parking lot and blood leading to the 2400 building. There, they found the two injured men, who said a man ran at them and shot them, the release said. They did not know why they were attacked, the release said.
