Equestrian expo names 2011 beneficiaries

The seventh annual Hilton Head/Savannah Equestrian Exposition has announced its beneficiaries for the 2011 event, which will be held May 1 at Rose Hill Plantation in Bluffton.

Since its inception seven years ago, the event has raised more than $172,000 for charity.

Beneficiaries for the 2011 event include: the American Diabetes Association; the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society; the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry; the Gullah Museum of Hilton Head Island; the Heritage Library; Heroes on Horseback; Savannah College of Art & Design Equestrian Program; St. Gregory the Great Ministries and The Savannah Philharmonic.

Members of these organizations sell sponsorships, program ads and tickets to the event, with proceeds from their sales directly benefiting their individual charity.

The expo will feature polo, barrel racing, jumping, fox hunting demonstration, dressage, carriage driving and flat racing.
