Historic Beaufort Foundation will offer a trip to a Ossabaw Island off the Georgia coast on Wednesday and Thursday. Ossabaw, 20 miles south of Savannah, is accessible only by boat and provides 26,000 acres of pristine wilderness that will be explored by truck. Habitation sites include American Indian and colonial remains, a late-19th century house and a 1920s-era mansion in the midst of undisturbed wildlife. Overnight accommodations and meals are provided in a lodge. The all-inclusive cost is $250 for foundation members and $275 for non-members. A portion is donated to the foundation.
