Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry's fifth annual Cooks & Books will be from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa. About 14 restaurants and 10 authors will be on hand. Restaurants will dole out samples of some of their favorite dishes and authors will sell and sign their books. The Heat is On competition will pit 10 local chefs against each other in a cooking contest. Each chef gets a basket of mystery ingredients and 30 minutes to create a dish.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets are available on Hilton Head at Burke's Pharmacy on Main Street and Le Cookery at The Village at Wexford; in Bluffton at Markel's Cards & Gifts in Kittie's Crossing. Tickets can also be purchased at a Literacy Volunteers office at 4 Oak Park Drive on Hilton Head, 1-B Kittie's Landing Way in Bluffton, or 1403 Prince St., in Beaufort
