Historic Beaufort Foundation's annual oyster roast fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Jan. 21 on the grounds of Marshlands in Beaufort. Open to members and the general public, the event will feature a traditional oyster roast, chicken gumbo, beverages and dessert, and live music. Marshlands is listed individually on the National Register of Historic Places and was built by Dr. James Robert Verdier, a pioneer in the successful treatment of yellow fever.
Tickets are $50 a person, and reservations must be made for 5:30 or 7 p.m. servings. The grounds and the bonfires will be open to guests throughout the evening. The bar opens at 5 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door and must be purchased by Saturday.
