The Veterans Day Parade, organized by the Beaufort County Veterans Affairs Office, begins at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11 in downtown Beaufort. The parade will follow the City of Beaufort downtown parade route. All marching units and other participants are asked to line up by 9 a.m. on Rodgers Street (parallel to the Beaufort National Cemetery). U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran Robert Waldrop, a World War II POW and Purple Heart recipient, will be the parade grand marshal. The Parris Island Marine Corps Band will perform in the parade and ceremony.
The Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort. Brig. Gen. Frederick Padilla, commanding general of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, will be the keynote speaker. There will be a reception after the ceremony at the AMVETS Post No. 70, 1831 Ribaut Road, Port Royal.
