Beaufort County Treasurer Joy Logan, who has been called on to resign by several of the county's elected officials, will be honored today by the S.C. Association of Countywide Elected Executives.

Logan will be recognized in a ceremony at 11 a.m. in the executive conference room of the Beaufort County government complex on Ribaut Road for "excellence in government," the association's Elizabeth Calhoun said in an e-mail Monday.

Logan is listed on the group's website as a S.C. Association of Countywide Elected Executives board member. The group is a professional organization of officials "elected to specific offices in each county of South Carolina," according to the website.

Logan has come under fire in recent months following embezzlement charges against one of her former employees and an audit of her office. Among those who have called on Logan to resign are state Sen. Tom Davis, R-Beaufort. Also, the Beaufort County Council passed a resolution at its May 24 meeting calling for her resignation. All eight members present voted in favor of the measure.
