A weak tornado with winds up to 75 mph touched down near Bluffton onThursday night, said the National Weather Service, confirming what manyresidents in the Pineridge subdivision suspected.
Causing minor damage to pine trees and lawn objects, according to PeterMohlin, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Charleston, thetornado was classified as EF0, the weakest grade on the Enhanced FujitaScale, with 5 being the strongest.
The funnel was on the ground for less than a minute around 11:30 p.m.,Mohlin said.
