Christmas cheer, holiday tidings

Sheree Goethe, right, along with other Programs for Exceptional People volunteers, decorates a bush with stars and snowflake ornaments Tuesday morning on Dove Street on Hilton Head Island. The North Forest Beach neighborhood hosts an annual Festival of Lights that attracts walkers and drivers each night through Jan. 1. You also can take a trolley to see the lights, which departs from Coligny Plaza beginning at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Donations to Deep Well also can be made at Coligny Plaza near Rita’s Italian Ice.

With the holidays come the pleas from a variety of charities who try to help those in need share in the season's riches. A well-decorated street on Hilton Head Island combines the two.
