Yemassee man killed, brother wounded in shooting

Authorities in Hampton County are investigating a shooting Friday night that killed a 23-year-old Yemassee man and hospitalized his 24-year-old brother.

Officers were called to a home on Tuliffiny Road in Yemassee at about 9 a.m. and found Anthony Antonio Badger, 24, who had been shot in the stomach, according to a news release Saturday from the Hampton County Sheriff's Office.

After treating his brother, authorities found Donnmick Tirus Badger, 23, who had also been shot, laying in the yard of his home next door.

Donnmick Badger was pronounced dead at the scene. Anthony Badger was flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. A hospital spokesman declined to provide an update on Badger's condition Saturday night.

It is unclear how many times the two brothers had been shot, authorities said.

Investigators have a suspect in custody, but the Hampton County Sheriff's Office did not release his name Saturday.
