Zaxby's employee robbed at gunpoint

BEAUFORT -- Beaufort police said they have little information about the two armed men who robbed a Zaxby's employee in the restaurant's parking lot Wednesday morning.

The employee told officers that as he was coming into the restaurant before 10 a.m., he was approached by two black men, one of whom had a handgun, said Maj. Matt Clancy, police spokesman. The men demanded money before walking away, the employee said.

The suspects took the money Zaxby's uses to stock its cash registers when it opens each day at 10:30 a.m., Clancy said.

Police said descriptions of the suspects were "very vague," and attempts by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office's K-9 unit to track the men were unsuccessful.

The suspects were last seen heading through the woods behind Zaxby's toward Horton Road.

The employee was not injured in the robbery, Clancy said.
