For Savannah and Hilton Head residents looking to get away, they were given a few more options on Wednesday.
Beginning in May, low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines will offer seasonal nonstop flights from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to Denver and Philadelphia. The new service to Denver will be the first to fly to the city and the longest nonstop route from Savannah.
“We’re really excited to be here, because we have recognized this is one community that could really benefit from low fares done right,” Jonathan Freed, director of corporate communications for Frontier Airlines, said at a press conference on Thursday. “... We’ve committed to making flying more affordable for the Savannah, Hilton Head community.”
The Denver-based airline will offer service from Savannah to Philadelphia on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting May 1 and to Denver on Fridays and Mondays starting on May 4.
The introductory rate for the Denver route will cost $59, while the Philadelphia route will cost $39.
These rates, which cover travel booked for May through June 13, will be available until 11:59 p.m. on Monday and do not require a roundtrip purchase.
By this summer, more than 90 percent of the U.S. will be covered by Frontier airlines, Freed said during the press conference.
In September, the airline also announced it was adding service from Charleston International Airport to Denver, Philadelphia and Chicago, which is starting this month.
